Console binds

Ok its been a while .
I've forgotten how to bind a witty and patronising text message in console to a given key.
I can open console, I have just forgotten how to do the rest and in what order.

Re: Console binds

bind "key" "say your message here"

remember to leave the word say there or it wont work and if you want it to be a team message put say_team instead of say this command will work in dod 1.3 and source and cod4 (apart from the team part for cod might work but not sure)

Re: Console binds

cOd4Alas Raven,it dont work.
I hit console key: ¬
then type: bind
then: "key[that i want to use]"
then: "say"
then type mocking missive
Hit Enter
That right?

Re: Console binds

There are also other special ones that can be used such as:

%c broadcasts your class.

%l broadcasts your current location (or nearest landmark).

%h broadcasts your current health level.

%t broadcasts the current time.

By mixing those in with messages, you can come up with some quite useful shortcuts:

bind “#” “say_team I'm a %c at %l with %h health remaining”

that would out put "I'm a Grenediar at the barrels with 50% health remaining"

There are other ones such as %i outputs the name of the person you are looking at and then you can have some fun.

bind "m" "say I am behind %i and I like what I see, nice bum! "

Re: Console binds

that one is plausable for me seeing as i use f to fire anyway so my mouse 1 is free (well not exactly it's my in-game voice key)

Re: Console binds

All good stuff chaps.

Do I sense a competition brewing for the most humourous/humiliating bind.?
I like Wid's

Unfortunately its not working on my console
and neither is

bind F4 "say BOO", or,
bind "#" say BOO, or,
bind "m""say Boo", or
"bind" F4 "say Boo", or
bind f4 say Boo
bind "F4" say "Boo"

I am going mad

I'll just keep working on the various permutations

Re: Console binds

bind "m""say Boo"

the only thing I can suggest is you put a space between the two statements

bind "m" "say boo"
